- Persönlichkeitsmerkmale als Kontrollvariablen in der Human Factors Forschung (PeKoHF) [Personality traits as control variables in human factors research]:
- Personality traits are assessed by short scales and used to control for interindividual variance in correlations of interface/ automation/ alarm design on the one hand and performance, workload or situation awareness on the other hand. Cooperation with companies and universities in Germany serve as a basis for data on the topic and a meta-analysis. details
- AG Operateure in komplexen, dynamischen Mensch-Maschine Systemen [research group on operators in complex and dynamic human-machine systems (at graduate school prometei)]:
-
What does a designer of automation or human-computer interfaces in general need in order to build fail- and fool-proof automation and assistance for human operators? We are currently working on a definition of prospective design and a comprehensive performance shaping factors model (Warnemuende Model, see figure above; click to zoom in) which reviews many empirically validated factors that influence safety and efficiency of operators in complex and dynamic systems. Figure from: Gèrard, N., Huber, S., Nachtwei, J., Satriadarma, B. & Schubert, U. (submitted in Oktober 2009 Journal on Human-Computer Interaction). A Framework for Designers to Support Prospective Design of Human Computer Interaction.
- extension of the questionnaire by Prümper ISONORM S & Anft to subscale 'support in process dynamics "[Extension of ISONORM questionnaire by S & Prümper Anft by subscale' support in process dynamics"]
- The ISO standard 9241 / 10 was transferred into a reliable and valid questionnaire by Prümper & Anft in 1993: the ISONORM. Originally developed for usability evaluation of software applications in office settings problems related to the dynamics of supervisory control could not be assessed. Thus Professor Prümper and I are currently developing to extension of the ISONORM-S (a short form of the original questionnaire) to address usability problems in process control. We appreciate any help to gather more data on usability evaluation of supervisory control systems in order to speed up development of the new subscale.
- adaptation of SEA-scale measuring subjective experience of effort Eilers, and Nachreiner Hänecke, 1986 / RSME of Zijlstra & Van Doorn, 1985 for use in PC-basierten/Online-Anwendungen [Adaptation of Rating Scale Mental Effort (RSME) / German version SEA to PC-based / online surveys]
- The Rating Scale Mental Effort has been used for short and efficient assessment of mental workload for about 20 years now. Although this scale as well as its German version is methodologically well designed there are some problems in practice. These are addressed in our adaptation of the original scale format (see figure). The variations are empirically evaluated in a series of studies.
- Benchmark zur Assessment Center Diagnostik (BACDi) [Benchmark for Assessment Center Diagnostics]:
-
Assessment centers (AC) are quite popular in practice but often built on a shaky definition of dimensions, sketchy job specifications, fragmentary training of assessors and so on. In order to ensure a methodologically sound implementation of assessment centers in practice, criteria for AC quality are gathered, discussed in academic settings as well as with experts from HR practice. After some iterations a computer programme will be designed which enables a theory-driven, empirically verified as well as practical evaluation of AC quality. details
- Längsschnittstudie Entrepreneur Diagnostik (LED) [Longitudinal Entrepreneurial Diagnostics]:
- Founding the own company has been getting more and more en vogue in Germany. Especially young academics see new perspectives in self-employment. There is also a body of literature related to Entrepreneurship. This research lacks information on aptitude testing with entrepreneurs and the relation of test results and economic success years later. This study is meant to fill this gap. details
- Personalentwicklung 2020 (PE2020) [Personnel development 2020]:
- This study examines future trends in HR by an expert delphi. The results are useful for research and practice alike since they give orientation regarding actions and precautions in german personnel selection and development. details
- Probandenserver der HU Berlin (PESA) [Server for recruiting of participants for empirical studies]:
-
Fast and adequate acquisition of samples of participants is a core pre-requisite for efficient psychological research. This is ensured by a web-tool, which allows researchers from HU Berlin and prometei to choose from 4000 participants from all ages and job backgrounds and invite them per e-mail to lab studies. The tool was adapted from ORSEE and expanded. details
- Statistik-Wiki der AG Statistik, TU Berlin, GrK prometei [wiki on inferential statistics]:
-
Inferential statistics is the toolbox in many disciplines and powerful if adequately applied to data from psychological or human factors studies. This wiki offers support for students and researchers by offering hands-on guidelines for standard statistical methods, discussions about special topics as well as a comprehensive collection of links to useful resources. details
